There is a plethora of research into Myalgic Encephalitis and fatigue states. Contributors to this body of work tend to be highly partisan in their models for the condition. The ME societies and patient support groups also tend to be highly selective in the way they present the condition and a great deal of mis-information exists in the public consciousness. It is important to understand that investigation results do not necessarily point to the causes of the condition. Many patients with long-standing fatigue states and ME have repressed adrenal function and a variety of corollary disturbances metabolically and biochemically. Similarly specific viral antibodies can be found in the cerebro-spinal fluid and raised serum antibody titres are evident is a number of patients. It is important to interpret these findings in the unique context of each individual patient. Similar immunological results can be often found in patients who are not suffering from ME or fatigue. The individual clinical circumstances and the treatment history often reveals the network of causes that decompensated the patient in the first place. Accurate identification of the predisposing factors, the main trigger events and the blocks-to-cure can provide the starting point for effective treatment. Over the past 10-12 years, we have collected an impressive case series, which illustrates what can be achieved by properly modelling and treating the causes for the condition in each individual case.
